Finally – a heartfelt appreciation to all of you, both veterans and newcomers, who traveled to Wamego this month to celebrate Oz in person. OZtoberFest proved to be a triumphant, happy occasion, with several thousand in attendance; jam-packed crowds at The Columbian Theatre for the stage presentations of THE WIZARD OF OZ, and eager enthusiasts who came to the special programming about Oz, the ruby slippers, and the MGM film during the day.

2020 promises to bring a solid mixture of both types of communication, so please stay tuned and, if you feel these mini-histories and commentaries are interesting, informative, or worthy, please don t hesitate to share them with any OZIFIED friends by guiding them to The OZ Museum Facebook page. For those die-hard MGM fans wondering about some of the foregoing nomenclature, I should acknowledge that the word Winkie never appears in the OZ motion picture.

For a certain segment of the population, remembering that year when you finally saw Dorothy open the door and Munchkinland was in color - COLOR! - on your TV set is a treasured moment. It felt like you had been let in on a big secret. So imagine, if you will, that someone has finally figured out the greatest mystery of all associated with The Wizard of Oz: What are the Winkie Guards singing as they march into the castle of the Wicked Witch of the West? (Yes, we didn't know they were called Winkies either.) Channel that scene and sing along: "All we own, we owe her." Right? No, no, it's "Oh we love the old one" Wait, no, it's "Oh we loathe the old one." Nope. Try "Oh we love, no one." Nah. The script actually reads "O-Ee-Yah! Eoh-Ah!" if the trivia on the website IMDB.com is to be believed. There's only one way to find out: Stop by the Sing-a-long Wizard of Oz at Tampa Theatre on Saturday or Sunday at 3 p.m. and be sure to watch the screen for the lyrics as they flash across. Costumes are encouraged, so get your Winkie Guard outfit ready. Tickets are $9, $7 for Tampa Theatre members. The theater is at 711 Franklin St., Tampa.

Reviews for "The Fascinating Worldbuilding through Sound in 'The Sound of Magic' Webtoon"

1. Jenny - 2 stars - I was really excited to start reading "The Sound of Magic" webtoon, as I had heard so many positive reviews about it. However, I must say that I was quite disappointed. The story felt very rushed, with little to no character development. The plot lacked depth and seemed to jump from one event to another without proper explanation or resolution. Additionally, the artwork was a bit inconsistent, which made it difficult for me to fully immerse myself in the story. Overall, I found "The Sound of Magic" to be underwhelming and not worth the hype.
2. Mark - 1 star - I found "The Sound of Magic" webtoon to be incredibly predictable and formulaic. The plotline was cliché, with the main character having special powers and going on a journey to save the world. There were no surprises or twists that caught my attention, and the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. The artwork, although visually appealing at times, did not make up for the lack of originality in the storyline. I would not recommend this webtoon to anyone looking for a fresh and innovative fantasy read.
3. Sarah - 2 stars - As a fan of fantasy webtoons, I was excited to give "The Sound of Magic" a try. Unfortunately, I found the pacing to be very slow and the story to be quite repetitive. The main character's constant inner monologues became tiresome, and the lack of action or suspense made it difficult for me to stay engaged. Additionally, the romance aspect felt forced and unrealistic, taking away from the overall enjoyment of the webtoon. While the artwork was decent, it was not enough to make up for the lackluster storytelling. Overall, "The Sound of Magic" was a disappointing read for me.
